To whom it may concern:
Thank you for the opportunity to submit information related to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s classification of the essential critical infrastructure workforce during COVID-19. On behalf of our employees at our local auto dealership(s), I would respectfully ask that you consider classifying automobile sales and leases as “essential” services during this unprecedented time.
We have been serving our community by providing reliable transportation options for our customers across the board. In this extraordinary moment, we feel strongly that our dealerships can and should remain operational. You have already recognized that our repair and parts functions are critical, but so are our sales and leasing facilities. Not all cars can be simply maintained and repaired. Many medical professionals, first responders, grocery and pharmacy workers, and others will need new and additional personal transportation options in order to carry on their critical work at this time. They and others need access to sales and leasing from dealerships like ours, and we are sure we can accommodate that need with appropriate social distancing safeguards to limit, and eradicate, the community spread of COVID-19.
Our commitment to our employees and our communities remains vigilant even in the toughest of times and this moment in global history is no exception. By allowing dealerships to be operational during this time as an “essential” service, you will also be allowing us to continue the community support of nonprofits that are so critically important, especially now.
Thank you for the opportunity to submit our perspective, and most importantly, thank you for all you are doing for our country during this truly challenging time.
